The ship will also be fully powered at sea and in port by liquefied natural gas (LNG).<\/p>\n<p>With today\u2019s announcement,\u00a0AIDA Cruises\u00a0now has a total of three LNG ships on order.<\/p>\n<p>AIDAnova is scheduled to join\u00a0AIDA Cruises\u2019\u00a0fleet in December as the first ship to feature LNG as fuel, and the first cruise ship in the world to be fully powered by LNG. The second ship of the series will be christened in the spring of 2021.<\/p>\n<p>The three LNG ships for\u00a0AIDA Cruises\u00a0are part of\u00a0Carnival Corporation\u2019s\u00a0ongoing fleet enhancement strategy with 20 new ships scheduled for delivery between 2018 and 2023.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cThe interest in AIDAnova, the first ship of our new generation, is enormous, even before the commissioning later this year. With today\u2019s new shipbuilding contract, we will ensure the further growth of the cruise market in the long term and will be able to provide excellent cruises for this steadily growing holiday segment in the future as well,\u201d<\/em>\u00a0<strong>Felix Eichhorn, president of\u00a0AIDA Cruises<\/strong>, said.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u00a0\u201cThis is the 10th\u00a0AIDA Cruises\u00a0ship we are building in Papenburg, emphasizing a long-term partnership between\u00a0AIDA Cruises\u00a0and Meyer Werft.
